Our School Captains set a great example for
the rest of our student community to follow.
In 2021 we have some excellent role models in place.

Elise McGibbon

Throughout the four years I have spent at WCB, I have always aspired to be a leader in our school community. I am incredibly grateful to have been elected as a 2021 College Captain and can’t wait to experience all this amazing opportunity has to offer. My goal is to improve my leadership skills and grow as a person, while continuing to help make the school a better place. I am looking forward to implementing the school values: respect, integrity, personal excellence, innovation and resilience. WCB has so much to offer, including a highly supportive staff who build great relationships with students. I am very proud to be a student at WCB and I am so excited to see what this year will hold.

Maddsion Grinter

Becoming a College Captain, at WCB, has been a personal goal of mine since Year Eight when one of my teachers told me how great I would be at the job. It was this kind of encouragement and support I received from my teachers that aided me through Remote Learning in 2020, amid the worst of the pandemic. That is why being elected as a Collage Captain for WCB and being able to represent the school, in this leadership position, is one I feel so privileged to have. WCB has been an incredible school to attend and has helped me grow so much both academically and as a person. As College Captain, I’ll strive to amplify student voice and use the position to spread positivity, optimism and excitement!

Luke Fitzgerald

I decided to run for College Captain last year, as I aspired to make a difference in our school community. I have consistently demonstrated the College values throughout my time at WCB, by being actively involved in college wide sports and extracurricular activities such as Energy Breakthrough. During 2021, I would like to help ensure the school is an accepting community where everyone can be themselves. I am excited to take on a leadership role within the school and hope to improve upon my organisational skills.

Blodan Abduljabbar

WCB has provided me with many opportunities to learn and grow over the past four years and I nominated to run for College Captain to contribute back to the school community. I hope to work on ensuring that WCB is an inclusive learning environment for all students and staff. I am thrilled to undertake this leadership opportunity and hope to improve and expand on my public speaking skills and confidence. I will work hard to embody the school values of: respect, integrity, personal excellence, innovation and resilience.

Muhammad Khan

During May 2019, I came to Australia with no sense of Australian culture or curriculum and was warmly welcomed to Weeroona College Bendigo by my lovely teachers and friends. While being at WCB I have learned to demonstrate the school values, which are: respect, integrity, personal excellence, innovation and resilience. I nominated for the position of School Captain to raise awareness about school issues and help bring solutions that will continually improve WCB. I aim to be transparent in this role and build on my skills and character. I am thrilled to be a WCB School Captain in 2020.

Asia Balkhi

I really enjoy attending Weeroona College Bendigo every day. It is such a great honour to have been voted School Captain for this year. I began studying at WCB in 2018 which was my first year in Australia. I have learned a lot of things from WCB. I feel the role of School Captain will open up many new opportunities and help me to improve my overall leadership skills, people skills and public speaking abilities. I am looking forward to embodying the school values of: respect, integrity, personal excellence, innovation and resilience.

Destiney Seymour

I have been a member of the WCB Community for the past four years. During this time I have learnt the importance of respect, integrity, personal excellence, innovation and resilience. I ran for School Captain as I wanted to be a representative of the student’s voice and help to implement their ideas. My personal goal is to help make Weeroona College Bendigo a better place for students, teachers and the rest of the school community.

Jasmine Winiata

I am extremely grateful to have been elected as a WCB School Captain in 2020. This will provide a wonderful opportunity to improve my public speaking and gain confidence. Studying at WCB, I have enjoyed reading novels and completing science subjects. I have gained an excellent rapport with teachers and students, giving me the opportunity to become a reliable and trustworthy voice. I am looking forward to a positive, fun and productive year as a WCB School Captain.
